Piezoelectric Translators are solid state (ceramic) actuators that directly convert electrical energy into motion (mechanical energy).
Advantages:
Application examples: Micropositioning, Laser Cavity Tuning, Mask Positioning, Fiber Optic Positioning, Semiconductor Test Equipment, Adaptive Optics, Precision Machining/Diamond Turning, Biomedical Engineering, Active Vibration Cancellation, Smart Structures, Force Generation.
- Sub-nanometer resolution.
- Zero stiction/friction.
- Zero backlash.
- Very high stiffness (up to 2,000,000 N/mm for 20 µm actuator).
- No wear & tear.
- Fast response (sub-millisecond).
- Closed loop operation for highest accuracy, linearity and repeatability.
- Widest range, highest quality of piezo actuators world-wide (10,000 different piezo configurations).
- All manufacturing steps from the PZT powder to the finished product are controlled by PI.
- Variety of stacked PZT translators with typical displacement range 5 to 200 µm (up to 0.008 inches).
- Low Voltage (100 V) and High Voltage (1000 V) versions.
- Multi-layer technology (co-fired).
- Ultra high vacuum, low temperature and high temperature options.
- Threaded tip, flat tip and ball tip options.
- Bimorph bending actuators and lever amplified translators for motion up to 1 mm.
- Standard, custom and OEM control electronics (digital and analog controllers, rack mount and modular systems, compatibility with advanced feed-forward techniques), software.
- OEM and custom designs.
