Applications

From the alignment of polarization filters to the alignment of workpieces or material samples: PI offers a wide range of motorized rotation stages in a large number of sizes and accuracy classes. Thus, the product portfolio of stages of a single diameter ranges from tiny 14 mm to 380 mm.

Piezomotors

Small Rotation Stages Equipped with Piezomotors

These miniature rotation stages can be used in a wide range of applications, for example in materials testing or for equipment of beam experiments on accelerator rings. Their piezo drive is in general vacuum-compatible and nonmagnetic, while the stages themselves are very compact.

Reference-Class Rotation Stages for Maximum Accuracy Requirements

The reference-class rotation stages are aimed at applications that require simultaneously high dynamics and high positioning precision. Research areas such as beam lines or semiconductor technology with their high accuracy and throughput requirements are the target markets.

Goniometers

Goniometers and Tip/Tilt Stages

Goniometers can replace rotation stages in applications of restricted installation space. This is advantageous, for example, for laser technology and materials research, where optical elements have to be positioned in the beam guidance. For scanning or tracking applications, the motorized tip/tilt stages can be equipped with a high-resolution piezo drive. For particularly high dynamics, piezo tip/tilt mirror systems are available, depending on the application.

Vacuum

Rotation Stages for Vacuum Applications

Vacuum and ultrahigh-vacuum applications place particularly high demands on mechanical components. Lubricants have to be avoided or replaced with special suitable ones, while the drive and electronic components have to be designed accordingly. Test equipment such as a vacuum chamber equipped with mass spectrometer helps PI to test vacuum products and configure them for individual designs.
