Entry Level - Part or Full Time - Electro Mechanical Repair Technician - Auburn MA

Role Overview

PI (Physik Instrumente) LP in Auburn MA has an immediate opening for an entry level Precision Electro Mechanical Repair Technician for nano positioning and micro positioning products.  

This can be offered as a part time or full time position, Monday to Friday, day shift only. Our ideal candidate will be primarily responsible for repair, calibration and testing of precision control mechanical products.  

Our ideal candidate will be:  

  • Interested in communicating directly with customers and the factory via phone, email and with video communication tools like Zoom or Teams.  
  • Familiar with the operation of a Multimeter and Oscilloscope. 
  • Experienced with electronic troubleshooting.
  • Have experience with schematics and wiring diagrams. 

We will train the right candidate for this interesting hands-on job.  We are very willing to flex around student schedules for the right candidate.  


Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical assembly of high performance motion devices requiring precision alignments and measurements. 
  • Soldering of small gauge wires (28 gauge – 36 gauge).
  • Familiarity with measuring devices, precision metrology and mechanical alignments.
  • Comfortable working on small devices using a microscope.
  • Light machining for fixtures and rework. 
  • Ability to comfortably use standard office applications (Word, Excel, Email).


Desired Experience

  • Moderate+ soldering experience is a must. IPC J-STD-001 experience prefered.
  • ESD control and awareness.
  • Assembly and testing of precision mechanical devices.
  • Solder electrical components and small gauge wires.
  • Interpret mechanical and electrical product documentation.
  • Use of multi-meters, wire strippers, and standard hand tools.
  • Follow 5S and lean manufacturing principles and practices in an ISO 9001 manufacturing environment.



  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education desirable.
  • Candidates must be able to produce evidence of the permanent ability to live and work in the US.  This is an employment contingency.
