Digital piezo controllers are equipped with a digital power amplifier with linearization algorithms, parameter settings using software and notch filter for suppression of oscillation. Depending on the model, they support position control for capacitive sensors and strain measurement sensors (DMS and PRS). The processors used operate at high cycle rates for data processing virtually in real time and use high-resolution D/A and A/D converters to give high sensor and position resolution in the nanometer range and below.

Analog piezo controllers provide signal processing of the sensor and control signals in real time for highly dynamic applications up to several kHz as well as static applications. As an option, they also offer modern digital interfaces for commands per host PC and related functions such as function generator, macro programming or a data recorder. 

Piezo amplifiers / drivers enable open-loop operation of piezo actuators and systems. Applications which require high-speed switching operations, dosing or noise generation do not require position control and hysteresis in the displacement of the actuators has no influence on the application. PI offers suitable piezo amplifiers with various different voltage and performance classes for all applications. Normally, analog control of the amplifier is standard.
