PI Ceramic at Sensor+Test 2024: New Technology for Combining Piezoelectric Ceramics and Filling Polymers

In numerous sensor applications, piezoceramic elements play a vital role in the detection and measurement of specific signals. With its wide range of geometries and sizes of piezoceramic actuators and ultrasonic components, PI Ceramic provides the basis for the application-specific design of actuator and sensor systems. The newly developed technology of combining piezoelectric ceramics with filling polymers now offers additional flexibility.

Ultrasonic measuring technology, flow rate metering, air bubble detection: The application potential of piezoceramics in sensor technology is extremely versatile. In medical technology, for example, piezoceramics form the basis of many diagnostic devices and a wide range of therapies. In an industrial context, the application potential includes solutions for position detection, level measurement, structural monitoring and much more.

Piezoceramic Composites

As a new option for application-specific product design, PI Ceramic now offers the embedding of piezoceramics in filling polymers. This improves the ultrasonic radiation in the thickness direction and allows adaptation to specific geometries as well as to environmental media with varying acoustic impedance. Prototypes are offered with epoxy resin for rigid composites or with softer polymers for flexible composite structures.

The PI Ceramic trade fair team at the Sensor+Test in Nuremberg (June 11-13 / Booth 1-355) will be happy to advise you on your specific requirements and will also show you options for assembly and upgrading.
